WHERE TO SHOP FOR AREA RUGS FOR ANY ROOM

Is it just me, or is picking out a area rug for any room THE hardest thing?!!
I can be super indecisive when narrowing down the perfect rug to add to a living room, bedroom, kitchen, patio space or entry way. It isn’t an easy task. But, I do love shopping around and scoping out the best rugs that way I can give myself LOTS of different options. Today, I wanted to share and hopefully make your life easier by letting you all in on where to shop for area rugs for any room in the house.

From kitchen runners and living rooms to children bedrooms, guest bedrooms, and bathrooms. A rug can completely change the entire theme and vibe of the room. So picking out one that fits your style is the best thing to do. So what is your style? Deciding what kind of look you are wanting is key to making the rug decision that much easier.

As far as rug style goes, you can choose from modern, mid-century, coastal, farmhouse, eclectic, and minimal. Of course there are several other variations, but when I am shopping for an area rug for my particular home, I tend to gravitate toward more modern, mid-century and minimal rugs with a touch of coastal.

I am currently rug shopping as we speak, which is why I wanted to share a big round up of some new favorites, see below. Since we need to transition Edison out of his crib, and into a new ‘big boy’ bed, I planned on completely redoing his room. When I am in the beginning stages of designing a room, I decide what color scheme I plan to follow, then first shop for rugs! I tend to base the room around the rug of my choice. Which then makes finding throw pillows and blankets, accent tables and everything else so much easier.

Urban Outfitters – One of my very favorite places to buy inexpensive rugs is Urban Outfitters. They are great for kids bedrooms, entry ways, and bathrooms. I also love that you can throw them in the wash! (they may not say to, but I have and they have come out great) Since they are not on the higher price end, I feel that I can swap them out for a new look on a regular basis.

West Elm – When I am shopping for a rug that I hope to keep a few years, I love to get them from West Elm. The quality of their rugs are amazing. They are a bit more on the higher end price. But depending on the size you are hoping for, the price sometimes isn’t too bad.

Swoon Rugs – A great source if you are hunting for an authentic vintage rug.

New England Loom – Another favorite shop of mine for vintage rugs.

Wayfair – If you have the patience to sort through thousands of rugs, Wayfair is the way to go! A great thing about spending your time browsing though so many rugs, is you can find almost exactly what you are hoping for, for a reasonable price too.

Ruggable – This is one of my newer favorites area rug brands to shop! I am actually deciding between two rugs for Edison’s room from here. What’s unique about Ruggable, is that all rugs can be thrown in the washing machine. Great for a kids room or entry way, right? You purchase the rug covering and the rug pad separate or together that way you could switch out the rug covering if you tire of the one you currently have for a fraction of the price.

Lulu and Georgia  – I love their rugs! They are a bit more on the higher end. But again, if you are buying an area rug for a room that you feel you won’t be changing. Invest your money in a good rug that is made with great quality.

Target – Oh my love for Target runs deep. I love buying Target rugs because they are inexpensive and I don’t care if they get trashed in 6 months or less. I love buying them for bathrooms and in small areas where we go in and out of the house, like our door to our back patio.

World Market – They have some great area rugs that have amazing quality. I found an outdoor one from them, and love it.

Walmart – Believe it or not, Walmart has some great rugs online. All different price points too.

Amazon – Another shocker right? I have purchased some rugs from Amazon in the past and was amazed at the quality. Of course the price range can vary on Amazon.
