WHERE TO PRINT AND FRAME FAMILY PHOTOS

Are you someone who has family photos hung around your home? Or maybe someone who hasn’t taken family photos in the last few years. I’ll tell you what, I am always sure we get our family photos done at least once a year just because I cherish the photos forever, but this is the first time in 4+ years that I have actually hung photos on our walls. It is amazing how much more homey our house feels ever since we have hung up family photos. Plus, I will say it feels SO good waking up to two cute faces daily, or walking into our kitchen seeing some of our favorite family memories on our gallery wall. Today, I wanted to share my favorite Framebridge frames and where to print your family photos.

We had family photos scheduled to take in April, but of course that got postponed. Now, I am just hoping we get to take the photos later this month. I love this phase of Lucy right now and can’t wait to finally add her to more of our gallery wall.

THE BEST FRAMEBRIDGE FRAMES AND WHERE TO PRINT YOUR PHOTOS

Since it took me over 4 years to finally print and hang photos on our wall I had time to do some research. By far my favorite place that I have found to print and frame our family photos is FrameBridge. Have you ever printed anything from Frame Bridge before? This was my first time, but I will say that I am completely impressed and know that I will print from them again.

FrameBridge is great! I love that you can pick from one of their already pre-designed gallery wall options, which makes the design decision so simple. They even come with life-size hanging guides showing you exactly where to place each nail and frame.
For me, I had a specific place in our hallway where I wanted to hang the gallery wall and needed very specific frame sizes so none of the the designed gallery selections from FrameBridge didn’t quite work out. Instead, I just went ahead and did each photo individually. At first it was a bit tricky figuring out the exact size I wanted the photos. (see my helpful tips below) One thing that I do wish FrameBridge had a more user-friendly option on their website that would crop all photos to match the exact size. But since they don’t I did have to go in and crop/size each photo to match. You would never know, but some of the photos are a bit different just off by a few millimeters.

Another thing that I was so impressed with Framebridge is the quality of the prints and frames.  All of our photos are crisp! The frames are heavy duty and I know they will last a lifetime.

I know that FrameBridge isn’t in the budget for everyone, so I wanted to suggest two other places that I have printed photos. I have used Mpix and Costco. With Mpix it’s great because the photos are shipped right to my home. I use Mpix when I need to print small photos. If you are in a time crunch Costco is a great option. You can get your photos back quickly sometimes even same day.
(The family photo on our floating shelves is printed from Mpix)

TIPS FOR PICKING FRAMES AND FAMILY PHOTOS TO HANG ON WALLS

Pick A Color
I feel like I struggled with this one for a long time. Deciding between color photos or black and white photos! So I did both! In our family gallery wall I stuck with color with a black frame. In our bedroom I did black and white photos of the kids with a natural frame. I am glad I went that route. The hallway really needed some fun pops of color.

Keep The Same Color Scheme Throughout
If you have a color scheme in your home that you love to design around, try finding clothing to wear in those colors for your family photos. That way you can print all your photos in color and have them blend right in with the overall design of your house!

Use Tissue Paper to Determine Frame Size
For like a solid month, I had bright pink tissue paper taped to my wall where I wanted to have our gallery wall. It created a great visual for me to see what size I wanted. After a few attempts with sizing, I finally was able to choose a frame size that would work best for the space I was dealing with. Having tissue paper being the same size as the frames is also a great and easy way to measure your wall when it comes time to hang the frames. We kept the tissue paper on the wall an hammered the nail right through it!

Stick With One Frame Style
I only say this if you are doing a symmetrical gallery wall, like the one I have in our hallway. Pick out one frame and go for it! All frames the same size, color, and thickness! It will help to create a more fluid gallery wall. However, If you have a larger space and are wanting to maybe add art work mixed in with your family photos, try arranging the photos so they are in a more unique pattern.

Add Family Photos to Shelves
When adding family photos to any bookshelf or floating shelve, this is a great time to mix up frames and sizes. Have natural wood frames, white or black frames with different textures. Have some frames thin and others thick. Shelves are a great place to add dimension. Have some frames with a mat and others without.
