HOLIDAY TRAVEL ESSENTIALS FOR KIDS CHECKLIST

With Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching quickly, it’s time to start narrowing down your holiday travel checklist for kids. It can be so tempting to overpack, thinking you’ll need so much for those little babies and toddlers. But truth is, packing too much is just overwhelming, especially if you plan to stay at a few different locations during your stay. Today I am sharing a few travel essentials for kids from Walmart that we can’t travel without. Along with some tips about keeping packing at a minimal for kids.

We love shopping and finding our favorite baby and toddler items through Walmart. The prices are super reasonable and they always have everything we need! I was in a time crunch when ordering a new baby carrier and needed it right away before we were heading out for an all day adventure. I quickly placed an order through Walmart because I knew it would be delivered on time. An added bonus.

When it comes to preparing and starting to pack, one of my biggest tips and life savers is having designated pack lists on the Notes app on my phone. I have one for myself, Lucy and Edison. You can read more about it HERE. It makes packing SO simple and perfect for those moments when you last minute decide to go a on a spontaneous trip. When I stick to the pack list, I almost never forget anything!
Another helpful tip is to update the pack list often. For things that you don’t necessarily need to pack anymore, I keep it in the notes, just move it to a new section I’ve labeled as “newborn” list. An example of this is a Dockatot.

Where are you heading this Thanksgiving or Christmas?

HOLIDAY TRAVEL ESSENTIALS FOR KIDS CHECKLIST

1- Baby Carrier – We are planning on flying home for Christmas and having a baby carrier is a major must have for us. Especially getting through airport security. Getting on and off the airplane and of course any days out touring the city. I just recently got this BabyBjorn Mini Baby Carrier from Walmart and am overall super impressed with it. I have an Ergobaby, but knew I wanted a baby carrier that I could face Lucy outward and have her sit comfortably. The Mini BabyBjorn is meant to carry smaller infants both facing you and away. Lucy has been a fan, and is thankful I found something that she can face outwards in. Her preference, not mine 🙂

2- Travel Stroller –  It’s super hard to find a travel stroller that also has great under storage. Which to me, is very important, especially while traveling. I love that this Maxi Cosi Modular Travel System has several configurations and is lightweight.

3- Diaper Bag – Go for a bag that has a lot of storage and dividers. I have this Skip Hop diaper bag and choose this when traveling. It is easy to get into and the storage seems to work perfectly when traveling making things easy to access quickly.

4- Toys – Lots and lots of toys for any kid of all ages. I always love buying a new toy for Edison who is 3 before traveling. I keep it a surprise until I feel he is beyond bored and ready for something new, yet strapped in the carseat or plane seat. It works every time. Lucy who is 5 months is constantly chewing on toys and grabbing anything she can. I am sure to pack several toys on the go, especially since so many end up on the floor. I need extras!

5- Pacifiers – Extra that is!! We have loved using the Philips Avent pacifiers that are detachable from a plush toy. That way you can wash both seperately.

6- Gripe Water – With new babies being out and about, in a new environment, and being passed around they can start to feel uncomfortable and fussy. We have always trusted and traveled with Gripe Water to help ease fussy/gassy tummies.

7- Owlet Baby Monitor – One of my very favorite baby products I own. It’s such a peace of mind which is why I pack it with us traveling or even for a quick over night stay. It’s small and easy to pack as well/

8- Food Accessories – Burp clothes, bibs, spoons, bowels, and anything else you will be needing. I am starting Lucy on solids as soon as she turns 6 months and know I will need lots and lots of bibs to keep that sweet little face clean! I love these bibs. They hold up well and fold nicely.

9- Bottles – If you bottle feed, or hope to step away at your family gatherings while home for the Holidays. Be sure to pack some bottles and a breast pump if you are breastfeeding.

10 – Coats/Jackets – We for sure need coats where we are heading this Holiday season. We will be in the snow and I hope to keep little Lucy cozy and warm!

11- Pajamas – Holiday pajamas that is!! I feel like it isn’t Christmas without a new pair of jammies. Loving this striped pair.

MOM TALK MONDAY: SMALL BUT MIGHTY – CONTOURS BITSY REVIEW

Exactly the two things I look for in a travel stroller. SMALL but MIGHTY! The Contours Bitsy Compact Stroller has the two main factors I look for.
We have done a few trips this summer and it is so important to have a travel compact stroller you can trust. I personally love the Contours Bitsy one for several reasons I will share below, but I love that it has a decent size undercarriage for a travel stroller. Typically with a travel stroller they are almost non existent. Which doesn’t actually make a ton of sense because that’s when you need enough room for your extra belongings is while traveling.
