…
I actually was planning on attending up until about 3 weeks ago and had to change my plans. I was so devastated, and cried even a little (I’ll blame this one on the pregnancy hormones 🙂 but, as sad as I am, I can’t help but feel I did what was best for myself and my little babe growing inside. (see why I didn’t attend below)
Since I was actually planning on attending I already had several things sent my way to wear during NYFW. So even though the photos aren’t surrounded by yellow taxis, and the gorgeous New York skyscrapers I decided I still wanted to show 3 or 4 looks of what I would have worn if I attended.
This was by far my favorite look I created and just am so obsessed with this amazing dress. Even though it is maternity, I think anyone could get away with it. The only thing that makes it maternity is it being flowy. But who doesn’t love a good flow to a dress.
Also.. these booties are AMAZING, right? I have been major crushing on these bad boys for quite some time and just holding out to share them with you till now.
…
Here is a little more about why I decided to stay home instead of attending NYFW this year.
Between moving into a new home, just north about an hour of where we previously were, and being 7 months pregnant. I found myself feeling a little overwhelmed that I didn’t have things ready and prepared for this little babe to arrive in November. And that’s not even adding onto the stress of planning outfits and events before heading to NYFW. Fashion Week is such a fun event and such an amazing experience but a lot of work and preparation goes into planning everything and making good connections.
If you remember a few months ago, I wrote about a doctors visit where we were referred to a ultra sound specialist to take a closer look at Baby’s kidneys. A long story short, baby’s left kidney was a little more dilated than normal, creating the ureter visible during the ultrasound. Which is something that is so small it shouldn’t be seen. So there was some sort of blockage between the bladder and ureter.
It sounds a lot worse than it actually is, thank goodness! But the doctors and ourselves felt like getting a closer look at things wouldn’t hurt. This kidney problem is most common in baby boys and is usually something that can be fixed as soon as they are born.
I was scheduled for a follow up visit with the specialist about a week and a half ago.
The doctor said there was still progression in growth with his left kidney and ureter. I will be heading back in another week and half for another ultrasound to keep checking the status of his kidneys. If there is still progression in being dilated, the doctors mentioned they would want to deliver me earlier than expected. They didn’t give me an exact date because it isn’t certain, but will know for sure 100% the next appointment I go to if I do need to deliver early or not.
However, I did mention, jokingly to the doctor, “as long as I don’t have a baby on Halloween, I’m happy to do whatever is best for the baby” she replied. “oh, you wouldn’t even be pregnant near Halloween.” My eyes really widened of the thought that in my head I was expecting the baby to be here on November 9th, and now we are thinking the week of October 20’s!!!!!!!!!!! wowza!
The reason they would deliver early is just to relive the pressure on his kidney.
After hearing this, I knew that I should stay put and stay home since my time here is only being shortened with so much to do and now so little time.
Even though I am again so sad I wasn’t able to attend I know I am doing what is best for me and my baby. Plus on the bright side, the only thing getting me through this emotional time of not attending this year, is knowing I get to go next September and have a HEALTHY, little 11 month old joining me for all the fun! So it will all be worth it!
