So today I wanted to share several of the tips and advice that I have been using for the last 6 months about how to clean baby toys while keeping your babies safety in mind.
…
Here is what has worked for us!
Stuffed Animals and plush rattles
I typically wash these in the washing machine with the rest of Edisons baby clothing. I use Dreft detergent that is a gentle on his delicate skin. I take them out as soon as the load is done to air dry, and never throw in the dryer.
Plastic Toys
I do these a few different ways, but if they are small I usually add them into our nightly soak in the kitchen sink with his bottles. I am just using Dawn dish soap.
If the toy is a little larger I have thrown it into the dishwasher too!
More delicate plastic toys
I make my own concoction with equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. I do add 5-6 drops of lemon essential oil to help with the vinegar smell and taste. I spray the Toys down, (cover the squeak hole, like Sophie the giraffe so no liquid drips in) sit them on a dish drying pad to dry part way. Then I use the Seventh Generation disinfectant wipes and wipe Toys clean.
(I also use these wipes as a second way to clean any highchair mess)
Wooden Toys
Be sure to never soak these in water
I use the same concoction as I discussed above. Equal parts of Water and White Vinegar.
Spray down wooden toys and wipe away right away so the wood doesn’t absorb the liquid.
While we are on the subject of keeping things clean, I always make sure to pack the Babyganics Alcohol-Free hand sanitizing wipes in my diaper bag. I wipe down the highchair, table and of course his cute little hands before digging into our meals!
These have been a major life saver!
