Happy Monday!!
Today I wanted to share something that I found so helpful when I first had Edison.
I was gifted a present with similar items from a friend and I always felt that this was way better than diapers and clothing. It prepped me for the things that never crossed my mind. Better yet, things that you don’t think you need until you need them! Especially being a first time mom!

So I wanted to compile a list and share with you items that I now throw together for a baby shower. I pick and choose maybe 5-7 items. If it is a close friend I will generally add more. But I generally talk with the mom to see if she has any of these items first. That way she isn’t getting double and getting more to start her off!

The best part about all of these items is that they can be found on Amazon. Whether you ship them to your home a few days before the shower. Or don’t live close by you can always order and ship to the new mother to be’s home!

However if I had to pick my top 5 I gift regularly it is the 2 Oxiclean products, Gripe water, Infant Tylenol, and the Changing pad liners. I know it isn’t the most glamours gift, but it was what I appreciated the most at my shower.
Also, I was someone who didn’t really want to be gifted clothes, I wanted to pick out my own for Edison. Of course diapers and wipes would have been a good gift, but remember a lot of people resort to that as a gift to give. Give something a little more personable!!

 

Baby Oxiclean Detergent

I loved being introduced to this product! I used this pretty religiously when blow outs occured. I still use this to get out food stains, or even blood. Be sure to spray with Oxiclean Spray then fill Laundry Bucket with warm water. Poor in about a 1/2 or 3/4 cup of detergent, depending on how big your load size is. Let soak overnight.

Baby Oxiclean Spray

Goes hand in hand with OxiClean Detergent. (see above for how I use it)

Laundry Bucket

I specifically love having a bucket to put into my sink. It uses less water, and I love knowing that it is clean before putting any clothing in it. (see how I use it above)

Infant Tylenol

I loved getting this as a gift because it was one of those things you don’t think about getting until you need it. Last thing you will want to do with a newborn is run to the store. So having it on hand or being given it is such a great gesture.

Desitin

I would suggest to get the Triple Paste Cream. However it is pretty pricy. So Let’s stick with Desitin, which is my second choice in diaper cream. I love having this for my diaper bag. Again, one more thing a new mama may not even think of.

Honest Hand Sanitizer Spray

One can never have enough hand sanitizer especially with a newborn. I constantly sprayed my  hands, but loved leaving one out in the living room as a reminder for people to use if they came to visit us, and before holding the newborn.

Tubby Todd All Over Ointment

Such a perfect gift idea. It’s one that a mama can’t go run out and get, has to be ordered. But I love it so much. This is such a great product for baby acne, cut faces (from those darn long nails), bum rashes, or anything else.

OBall Toy

One of my favorite first toys for Edison. I loved it because it was one of the first toys he could actually hold. They love to grip it and hold on to it!

Gripe Water

Again, one of those major items you want to give a new mama. It’s one you for sure don’t want to have to run to the store. I personally loved Gripe water over Gas drops. They worked better on Edison. We used it weekly, any time he seemed to be a little gassy. This was one product I had never even heard of until I was gifted it, and was forever grateful when it calmed Edison down after crying for several minutes non stop!!!

Nail Clippers

Such a good gift to give, simple, but of course practical. I never used this as a newborn. I used a small file instead. But of course you will always end up needing this sooner than later. I love this pack of 2 because I keep one in Edison’s room and one in my diaper bag.

Changing Pad Liners

Hands down my favorite baby product for such a great price! I spread these out ALL OVER my house. I used these any time I changed Edison’s diaper. Even on top of his changing pad. If I got a little poop on the mat, it wasn’t a big deal because I could toss it in the wash verses changing the entire changing pad sheet.

Crinkle Book

Another one of Edison’s favorite toy. The noise was for sure his favorite!

I Love you Through and Through book

It’s never too early to start reading to your baby! This is one of my favorite books we own and I think everyone needs it!
