LUCY’S ONE YEAR OLD PHOTOS AND UPDATE

 

 

Hitting that one year old milestone is always so bittersweet! It’s such an accomplishment for both baby and mama, but also can be very saddening knowing that your baby is officially on their way into toddlerhood. The second they start walking, talking and running away from you. Game over! That sweet little innocent baby is growing up. But we don’t need to talk about it do we mamas??? Or at least I try to ignore the fact that Lucy is growing up right before my eyes. Today I wanted to share all of Lucy’s One Year Old Milestones and photos below! There is a lot, fair warning. It really is just too hard to narrow down my favorites.

While we were away on our family road trip up to Utah and Idaho, we stopped by my very favorite newborn and baby photographer B Couture to shoot Lucy’s one year old photos. She took her newborn photos as well, you can see them HERE. Chelsy does such an amazing job at capturing my babies exactly how I hoped they would turn out. She is worth the drive in my personal opinion. And yes, even with a newborn. We did it when Lucy was only 2 weeks old!! Looking back, that seems like nuts, but honestly they just sleep anyways, right??

Lucy is now 13.5 months and I wanted to share a few of her milestones and updates we have seen in the last few months!

Gosh, it truly is SO dang hard to narrow down my top 5 favorites. Lucy kills me in all of these.
Plus her cake smash, I die! If you have been around for awhile, then you know that Lucy loves her food! Cake included. The photo of her yelling while eating cake is absolutely priceless. I don’t even recall what was happening in the photo. I had probably gone over to adjust the cake on the cardboard, but in her mind she thought I was taking it away. Poor thing 🙂

It is so fun to look back at Lucy’s newborn photos of her in this same exact chair! It’s also fun to see how much Edison has grown and changed in just one year. You can see all of her newborn photos HERE

 

LUCY’S ONE YEAR OLD MILESTONES AND UPDATE

 

— Lucy says “hi” when she sees new people enter the room.

 

— Waves always with both of her hands by bringing in her fingers in to her palms. My favorite thing she does

 

— Blows kisses and always squishes her nose 🙂

 

— Claps and loves the Pat-A-Cake song

 

— Loves to be read to. Lucy will sit still for 4 or 5 books at a time. But of course loves helping turn pages and prefers the touch and feel books

 

— Is the easiest baby to put to bed for nighttime and nap time. Read a few books, snuggle while holding her standing. Lucy rests her head on my left shoulder every single time and snuggles in. I lay her down awake, she generally rolls to her side or stomach and I cover her with a swaddle and she goes out quick

 

— Just now starting to walk using a walker

 

— I’m estimating Lucy will start to walk when she is 16 months

 

— Lucy loves eating avocados, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, broccoli, squash, sweet potatoes, peas, pasta, Cheetos (a new favorite!), and of course puffs!

 

— Lucy stares the entire time at Edison in the car if he is eating a snack. It’s hilarious!

 

— Loves her Bossy dog

 

— Loves playing in the water! Water table, pool, beach, bath tub, sprinkler. Anything that involves water she is obsessed with.

 

— Still willing to let anyone hold or play with you. She doesn’t just prefer me or Brandon. And I hope that sticks. It really is so amazing.

 

— Obsessed with music and people singing! Any movie that sings catches your attention. Your favorite toys are the singing remote, or other singing toys. You nod your head side to side or shake your head. The cutest dancing around

 

— Has 8 teeth

 

— Always wake up happy and cheerful. Still will lay in your crib and just stay cozy. But you never cry

 

— Lucy doesn’t like drinking milk. I still try daily, but she will only have a few ounces. Which is SO unlike Edison who guzzled 25 ounces a day!

 

— Say’s “mama” and “dada”

 

— Just now teaching Lucy to sign “eat” “all done” and “more”

 

— We just started Lucy on a new seizure medication last week and have noticed a lot of drowsiness and fussiness. Hoping that it is just because she is overlapping 2 medications. Hoping this isn’t a major setback or reaction the new medication. If you are new here and want to learn more about Lucy and her seizures, you can see this post HERE.

 

LUCY’S ONE YEAR OLD MILESTONES AND UPDATE CONTINUED…

 

— Lucy is NOT a fan of Edison taking her things. But can you blame her! He is kind of a big stinker and takes everything of hers. Of course he trades her with a toy he isn’t interested in. We still have a lot of things to work on over here haha

 

— Lucy usually goes to bed around 7 or 7:30 and wakes up around 6 or 7 am.

 

— Lucy takes 2 naps a day. Her first between 9 or 9:30 and the other around 2pm. They usually last 1.5 hours and sometimes 2 hours.

 

— Lucy is and has always been such a happy little girl. She goes with the flow and is just happy to be included.

 

— Lucy has not figured out how to go down the stairs yet. We only have a one step down in our house and since that is all she is used to, she goes head first. Even outside when we have 4 steps. Luckily they are wide enough she can still go down head first. Even though I try to teach her to go feet first.

 

— Edison can make Lucy laugh more than any one of us. She thinks he is absolutely hilarious

 

— I can always tell when it’s roughly noon or 5pm. Because Lucy starts to yell and me demanding food! It’s always right on queue

 

— Lucy loves helping with laundry. And by helping I mean, taking all the clothes out of her hamper, then putting them back in. 🙂

 

— Lucy enjoys playing with cups. She then will find a small object to put inside the cup and will play non-stop putting the item in and taking it over for several minutes

 

— Lucy loves the dishwasher and b-lines it any time she sees it is open.

 

— Lucy HATES putting pajamas on at the end of the day. The girl throws a fit every. single. time! Getting her dressed in the mornings she is pleasant, but heaven for bid the pajamas haha
