When two worlds meet — Designer and trendy, affordable items!
Over the last 6 years that I have been sharing looks on Navy Grace, my primary goal has been to showcase looks and share items that you can shop and style to make any outfit your own, as well as share a combination of both high and low fashion pieces. For me, it’s a practical strategy, all while staying within my means. To make a look seem effortlessly, the goal is to have people guessing where you spent money and where you saved. Today I wanted to share some High and Low fashion tips on How to Wear Your Favorite High and Low Pieces this Fall as well as some of my fall fashion favorites.
Of course when it comes to mixing high and low fashion items, there is no right or wrong way to do it, but I do have a few tips to share when you do decide you want to splurge on high ticketed items. Every woman has an itch to do it an some point in their lives, (and for some it’s a monthly occurrence) and I am here to tell you what high fashion items I recommend to invest in and maybe others to pass on.
In today’s round up you can find links to the high priced items that I own and love as well as a low priced look-a-like items that are more budget friendly. Of course I still had to share the designer priced items that I passed on and where you can go to save like I did.

Today’s look is a perfect example of a high and low fashion look. I have mixed a budget friendly camel blazer and black jeans together and paired them with my favorite Gucci Princetown Mules, Prada Handbag, and Rayban Sunglasses to create an overall balanced look. These Gucci Princetown mules are for sure an investment but before I decided on buying them I figured out my price per wear. Meaning I would be able to wear these shoes a lot to make the price worth it. Truth is, these are my most worn pair of shoes. I loved them so much I got them in white (see how I styled the white mules HERE and HERE) It didn’t stop there though, I kept finding myself wearing these shoes so much that I invested in a similar loafer style HERE that I love.
Same goes for my Golden Goose Sneakers. The price per wear factor was considered. I wear these sneakers more than any other pair I own. So to me they are worth it. I have an entire post sharing on whether GG sneakers are worth it. You can read that post HERE.
As a friendly reminder, no designer piece is worth it if you can’t afford it! It took me lots of hard work, lots of saving, and thinking before I ever made my first designer purchase. Still to this day I have to sit on a handbag for 6 months to 1 year before splurging! They aren’t cheap, so NEVER just buy on a whim. Think, save, and work hard for those splurge worthy items. You will feel like you earned it every time you wear them!

FASHION TIPS ON HOW TO BUY AND WEAR YOUR FAVORITE HIGH AND LOW PIECES THIS FALL
MIX AND MATCH
Kind of a no brainer! But find investment and affordable items that will pair well together. After all the entire purpose is to mix and match the high and low fashion items to create one curated look
PRICE PER WEAR
This is the easiest way for me to personally decide on whether or not I want to spend money on an item. If it is something that I know I won’t get that many wears out of, like a printed shirt, then I will pass. Shoes, handbags, jeans, and a basic top are all items that you can wear again and again. Think of buying how many times you will wear the item — does the price per wear make sense??
LOOK FOR AFFORDABLE ITEMS THAT “LOOK AND FEEL EXPENSIVE”
H&M, Zara and Mango are all great places to shop to find those affordable items that look and feel expensive!
Same goes for kids clothing at both H&M and Zara.
ACCESSORIZE
This is when high end pieces can completely take your low priced outfit to the next level! Accessorize with the right shoes, handbag, or even sunglasses.
DON’T SPLURGE ON THE TRENDS
As hard as it can be sometimes, don’t splurge on the trendy items. These items will go out of style so quickly. Instead look for classic handbags that can be used from season to season. A camel trench coat to use year after year etc.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND RESEARCH YOUR HIGH AND LOW FASHION ITEMS
When it does come time to splurge on an item you have had your eye on for a long time. Do you homework and research every possible retailer to find yourself the best deal. Chances are one retailer may have a better deal. If you can hold off a bit longer, wait until the end of the season, that is when you will find the best deals for High fashion items.
KEEP THE LOOK BALANCED
Balanced meaning don’t wear every single designer item you own at once. Most of the times it just doesn’t flow well together. Throw in a good handbag, or pair of shoes to great a more balanced look
