This postpartum journey I am currently in, has been extremely different than my first postpartum experience, and that is okay. I am learning new ways to embrace my new body and finding new postpartum clothing and styles that fit and most importantly feel good. Now that Lucy is 4 months old, and I am 4 months into my new postpartum body, I feel that I can share 5 tips for finding the right kind of clothes for new moms.
Pay close attention to tip #5!!! Read it over and over and OVER again. Read it until you believe every single word. I mean it!!! It sure isn’t easy, but trust me, it is the best thing you can do for yourself and for your new baby!!
I recently wrote and shared these tips and was featured on the Solly Baby blog. You can read it HERE

5 Tips for Finding the Right Kind of Clothes for New Moms
1. Go with the Flow – After just having a baby, the last thing you will want is snug clothing! Looking for flowy dresses or loose fitting jumpsuit is going to help you make the transition! I love finding dresses that are not only comfortable, but also nursing friendly – that is my #1 go-to outfit for the first few months! I prefer midi or maxi dresses since I am generally sitting on the couch with my legs crossed nursing, for what it seems like …ALL. DAY. LONG.
2. Just get new pants! If you’re like me, you probably won’t fit into your jeans you wore pre-pregnancy! And that is OKAY, mama!! Don’t discourage yourself by trying to squeeze yourself into pants that don’t fit your new body. Go buy some new jeans that make you feel good, and go up a size or two. I promise jeans that fit better make for a happier mama! I highly encourage you to look for quality brands like Topshop, AGOLDE and Madewell – while they’re a little pricier, the fit is usually better and will make the shopping experience way less stressful! Here is a pro-tip: find pants with an elastic waistband – I am still rocking my stretchy pants 4 months postpartum. They are comfortable, easy to wear, and they fit!
3. Lots of simple t-shirts – I am a total t-shirt kind of gal, and specifically love a good white tee! Having a close full of comfy tees is great because during those first few months after having a baby, you’ll get spit up on, pooped on, you’ll get milk stains from leaking, you know…basically ALL THE THINGS! Having a closet full of simple t-shirts will make your life so much easier, since you’ll probably be changing multiple times a day.
