Well, that’s because it is.
Today’s post is about two different things and I am actually in need of YOUR help this time!
1. Those last minute items you just don’t even think about
2. Those items that I would love to know if they are worth it or not? Did you find it useful or wasteful?
Since being home in Idaho, I have attended a friends baby shower and have been to the store several times with my mother gathering last minute items that I need. Aaaaaaaand to be honest, there were so many items, that I included in today’s post, that I hadn’t even thought about getting quite yet.
So because I found this so helpful, I wanted to share what I learned.
However, I would also love your help with a few items that I am debating about getting.
So let’s get started!!!
Those Last minute items you don’t even think about getting
Nail Clippers
It’s so funny you don’t think of getting these, but it’s true! Babies nails grow quick and you don’t want them scratching their little precious faces.
Gas Drops
Something I learned last night is how useful Gas Drops will be. Some mothers were saying they gave their babies these drops before or after every meal! Anything to help, right!!
Diaper Rash Cream
Again.. eventually I would have thought of getting this. But I am grateful my mother was helping me notice things I should get now, rather than stressing about going to the store after having a newborn.
Baby Laundry Detergent
I never knew, until a few months ago, that they even made detergent for babies! Can’t wait until I get home to start washing all those clothes, towels, blankets and more!
Hair Brush or Comb
And again… I would have never thought about this until I needed it. But those babies who get cradle cap. This will become a must!
Oxi Clean
I hear this cleans those blow out stains like a champ!!!! Soak the clothing in deluded Oxi Clean and soak overnight before washing!
I have also heard of spraying clothing with stain remover and leaving it out in the sun to dry. Something I will sure being trying as well.
Have you tried this method? What products do you feel gets stains out the best?
Diaper Disposable Bags
So genius! I love that I can store these around the house, If i’m too lazy to run it outside and don’t want the house to stink. Or always keep one in my diaper bag for those places that you just don’t have a garbage to throw away the diaper right away!!
Extra Changing Pad Covers
I’m sure if you bought a changing pad you also bought a changing pad cover to go with it. But you’ll love having extra on hand especially for those little messes they make!! You could also get these, something I am also considering!
Mama Hook
One of the first things I purchased after I got my stroller. I just know that when I will be out and about shopping this hook will become a life saver!
…
Did you love it? Did you use it?
Let me know if you bought this item and found it useful? Or vise versa. Was it a waste of money and space?
Wiper Warmer
I love the idea behind a wipe warmer.. but don’t know if it is something you would actually use? or is it so nice not having to put cold wipes on that tiny bum 🙂
Infant Carseat Head Support
I have the Nuna infant carseat and wonder if this is something I would need to invest in????????
Is it a necessity??
Diaper Genie
I have had some people tell me they love this? and others say they never used it, or even some who didn’t like it!
So I would love to know what you loved about it? or what you didn’t like about it!
Boon Grass
I plan on breast feeding most of the time, but I do know I will occasionally pump and need bottles. Was a Boon Grass convenient?
Food Processor
What are the pros and cons to a Food Processor. Is this something you will use and love if you have the time and energy to make food? Or is it something that is just a preference because you are trying to save money????
Stroller Caddy
I actually have this stroller caddy in black and wonder if it is useful or just in the way? I will have my diaper bag and I also have a cup holder attachment that is separate. What stroller caddy did you love?
Again, I would love any input on any of this information, or basically anything that you found to be very helpful or useful?
Or even those things that you thought you HAD to have, but maybe found you didn’t use it as much as you thought you would!
Being a First time mama here, I am down to only 5 weeks and I just want to make sure I am prepared as much as I can be!
Thank you all so much!
I was hesitant when I bought the diaper genie because I was thinking it was going to turn into one of those things that was going to sit collecting dust. Alas, not so! I’m happy to say it was smart purchase for our family. I was tired of emptying out the trash bins in our home every other day (or sooner cuz of the smell) and I was buying trash liners like crazy. This really neutralizes odors and fits a big amount of diapers. I bought a combo pack at babies R is that came with a years supply of the liner….anyway, long story short YES I recommend it
Thank you so much Fari, I really appreciate you taking the time to write on here! I also appreciate your feedback. I actually just received a diaper genie at my baby shower last night and am extremely excited about it! I like you, wouldn’t want to be changing all the waste baskets around the house daily, so I love the idea! Thank you!!
Munchkin liners – must ave! Check out the oobie diaper pail (no special bags needed). Love the boone grass- great for pump parts too. As always, every mom finds different “must haves” so don’t stress!
Thank you so much Leslie!! I appreciate your feedback!!
I think I will be investing in the Boone Grass. Seems like everyone has loved it so far, and I love the idea to use it for pump parts too. Never thought about that!! Genius! Thanks again!
Of all the things you listed, I would only get the stroller caddy. We use a trash can with a lid, and when the diapers got stinky, we placed the can outside. It is very easy to empty and keeps our apartment from smelling like dirty diapers. You won’t want to make baby food. Just buy baby food and give him soft foods from your plate. Diaper wipes warmer is a waste of money and it will become a hassle to pack and take when you go on vacations, etc. Plus, the wipes in the diaper bag won’t be warm when you use them. Nighttime diaper changes will wake him up whether the wipes are warm or cold. Baby K and I use the cold wipes as a little game. She thinks it’s funny when I say, “Oooo, burrr!” while using them. You can use a rolled up swaddle blanket or burp rag for head support. They only need it for 2 months or so and then they are fine. I wouldn’t worry about the other stuff. It is so easy to over purchase for your first baby, and you will find yourself either not using the things you bought and giving them away, or just using them because you bought them and not because you actually need them. You will be a fantastic mommy! I love you and I love your blog, Camilla!
Oh goodness.. thank you so much for all of your advice Cree!! I chatted with your mom this past week and it was so much fun catching up with her! She is a doll!! But honestly, thank you for sharing all this information. I agree completely, that it can be easy to over buy! Which is why I had to ask all of these questions. I like what you said about the Diaper wipe warmer, because you are absolutely right. I won’t be taking it on vacation or obviously wont have it in my diaper bag! So I think you have convinced me!
By the way, I am BLOWN away at how well your little girl talks!!!!! She is going to go far! Also, she is the prettiest little girl I’ve ever seen. I show so many people her picture, because I just can’t get over that darker skin and blue eyes!!
Hope you are doing well 🙂
Your baby wish lists posts look great! I just started my blog after having my little one 3 months ago. I am most definitely still learning. I love the layout of this blog post and how everything is clickable. I would love to know how to make the box squares with the pictures of the items!
Also I would make sure you get nail clippers with a little light on the end. It helps tremendously. The keychain with bags for dirty diapers comes in very handy. We have it in the diaper bag for on the go changes!
