GUEST POST: PAIGE CHRISTENSEN: MOTHERHOOD AND CREATIVITY
Happy Mom Talk Monday!!
I am beyond excited to introduce Paige Christensen to you all!
Paige is someone, who after following along on her Instagram you automatically wish you were friends with her and her adorable family in real life! They are always up to something fun, dancing or being silly together all while living in sunny Arizona. Paige amazes me with all that she does and truly is the definition of motherhood and creativity. She is crafty, creative, a photographer and above all, a mother to 3 darling little kids.
If you are new around here, this is our fifth time doing a Guest Post series as part of my Mom Talk Monday featuring an amazing mother that inspires me!
Hi! My name is Paige Christensen and I am so thrilled to be a guest here on Camilla’s blog!
First, I thought I would let you know a little about me! I graduated as a Physical Therapist Assistant and absolutely loved what I did. After I had my first daughter, Milo, I continued to work full time but it hit me harder than ever that I wanted to be at home with my daughter. I am the type of person that has to constantly be doing something so I decided I would try doing photography and blogging. It was crazy how quickly I fell in love with doing both! I loved the idea that I could be doing something that I’m passionate about while taking care of my baby. I soon began to do photoshoots for other companies and my photography business kind of took off from there. I will admit that I did have a pretty amazing photography teacher because my husband is also a freelance photographer. I learned by second shooting with him at weddings, lifestyle shoots, and all sorts of photoshoots. We are pretty lucky because we both get to be home together with the kids but at times my husbands traveling schedule can be crazy!
It’s been fun to be able to do a lot together as a family and that’s why we decided recently to start a family YouTube channel. We like to document our every day life and travels so it’s quickly turned into something fun we get to do together. The kids enjoy watching the episodes that we create and I know it will be fun to see these episodes a few years from now!
I grew up with an extremely crafty mom and some of my favorite memories was when we would go to the art store to pick out some sort of craft to do. She always encouraged me to try new things and fully supported whatever thing I wanted to try. I learned all sorts of things from pottery to mosaics and painting. My mom was also a perfectionist when it came to art so when we were learning something new, she taught me the value in learning how to do it right the first time. For example, I never really liked sewing but was determined to make my own duvet cover when I was in 6th grade. This wasn’t just some plain ol’ duvet cover, it had about 60 squares that I had to sew together to make one big duvet. There were so many times that I wanted to just sew right through that fabric but my mom made sure that I did it right so that it would be good quality and last. I’m so glad she taught me that because it has translated into so many things I do now when I’m crafting.
My most recent pieces have been some paintings for my house, redoing my daughters vintage dollhouse and I created some clay chimes that I use as my one year olds mobile above his crib. You can actually find a tutorial to my baby mobile here. Doing crafts and painting has become extremely therapeutic for me as well. Whenever I want to escape whatever crazy is going on, I simply sit down with a brush and canvas and hope something comes together.
The best part about doing crafts is that you don’t have to be good. Art is whatever you want it to be, just have fun with it!
NAVY GRACE Q&A WITH PAIGE
Q: How did you get started as a blogger/influencer: A: I started blogging because I loved documenting the things that I love. I enjoy doing crafts, making videos, photography, fashion, and documenting my family so it all just seemed to make sense to create a blog. I wanted there to be a fun and light hearted site for people to come to and hopefully enjoy!
Q: What is your favorite mom product that you are always sharing or talking about?
A: My all time favorite mom product would have to be my St Tropez Express Tan Mousse. Ok, Ok, I realize that’s not a mom product but let me tell you, it makes me feel like a whole new woman! It’s not an orange, streaky tan and gives you such good color. Try it and you will know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m pretty sure I lose a good 10 pounds every time I use it because I feel so great afterwards ; ).
Q: What is your favorite baby/toddler/child product?
A: Oh man, that is such a hard question because I feel like their are so many products now days that are a life saver! If I had to narrow it down to one right now, I would say my Born Free Nisa collapsible playard. I never had a playpen with my other babies and now I’m wondering why or how I didn’t! It’s so nice to be able to pop it up and know my crawling baby has somewhere safe to be. We also took it to the beach this past week and it was a game changer! Check it out here https://shopbornfree.com/nisa-playard
Q: What is something you do for yourself to make you be a better mom and wife to your family?
A: I make sure to take time to either work out or do something like getting my nails done. I know that when I have time for myself, it allows me to kind of reboot and to be a better mom!
Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to other moms?
A: The piece of advice I would give to other moms is to know that there is no right way of doing things. We are all learning and with each new kid, we continue to learn! Every child is different and you just try and do your best and have patience. You’re doing great!
