15 LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR 3 TO 5 YEAR OLDS YOU SHOULD TRY AT HOME

Believe it or not, I am already in birthday planning mode for this cute boy who’s birthday is next month! I am constantly on the look for new activities for us both to do together while Lucy naps, or activities he can do on his own during quiet time. Today I wanted to share 15 Learning Activities for 3 to 5 Year Olds You Should Try At Home. Scroll down for all our favorites!

We have so many of these fun activities that are perfect for kids 3 to 5 years olds and had to share our favorites. We have and love #1, #2, #6, #7, #10 and #15.  I am also sharing all the fun activities that I plan to get Edison for his birthday this year. Like the Kinetic Sand, Scissor and Tape Skills book, Seek and Find Sticker book and more. Can’t even believe he will be 4!!! His big gift this year is a bike from RetroSpec, so I needed to find a bunch of smaller activities and toys that he will continue to love and use over the next couple of years.

What I love about most of these learning activities is that they aren’t a one and done activity. You can use them over and over again, which helps kids to develop the skills and perfect them as they try the same activity more than once.  Perfect Activities for 3 to 5 year olds.

I mentioned that Edison still does a quiet time most days of the week. Most days he has no problem staying in his room for an hour, but other days it can be a struggle. That is when I love to pull out one of the activities or games we have out of the cupboard for him to play in his room. Each of these activities does a great job to keep him entertained for awhile. A major bonus for a working mom 🙂

1// Fort Builder

If your kids are constantly asking to build forts, this fort builder kit is so much fun! I still have to help Edison build the tent or castles but he is always a good help with putting the sticks and balls together as we build.

2// Toy Car City Playmat

We have actually had this for years. I think Brandon got it for Edison before he had his first birthday. But we put it down in our basement storage and just found it. So we brought it up for Edison to enjoy and he sure has. We haven’t rolled it up to put away because he has so much fun with it daily.

3// Paint By Sticker Book

My friend Bri from @minivoyager_ shared this book with me and it looks like so much fun. Needing to get one for Edison ASAP! She always shares the best kids toys and activities and is my go-to friend for ideas on what to give for gifts!! Plus she shares tons of great travel tips and soon will be selling Travel kits!!

4// Tangoes Tangram Game

We are all about the shape puzzles and games lately. It really makes them think and get creative. I love that this Tangram game comes with it’s own case.

5// Kinetic Sand

This is on our birthday list for Edison this year. He will see an ad pop up about Kinietic sand and asks for it every time. I think it’s time. I love this fun set and tools that come with this particular kinetic sand.

6// Homi Baby Pikler Triangle Slide and Climbing Set

We have had a very similar Pikler triangle for a year now and still love it! It gets used daily! Ours has a slide and a rock climbing wall. It is so much fun and great for indoor play. Especially during those winter months ahead when you can’t get out as much. Ours is from Homi Baby.  I also really love this wooden kinder board and think my kids would love it!

7// Lite Brite

Saw this in the store and bought it for Edison. It brought back lots of memories of me as a kid. He has loved it. It has been a great activity for him to do during quiet time.

8// Mental Blox Stacking Game

This game looks like so much fun. Your traditional stacking game that has a challenge to it. I really think Edison would enjoy this. As long as Lucy isn’t around to knock it over 🙂

9// The Painting Book

Another great find from my friend @minivoyager_ Edison has been really into painting lately and I think this is the best way for him to learn how to paint new things and follow instructions.

10// Magna Tiles

Every kid must have! It’s great for kids of all ages. Edison uses these during quiet time and lays them flat for a race track. Or builds two matching houses together. You can see another kids gift guide I shared with these Magna Tiles HERE

11// Seek and Find Sticker Pad

We have a few seek and find books that Edison adores. Thinking this Seek and Find sticker pad would be a fun activity to do with him. Getting him this for his birthday

12// Wikki Stix

We got these last year in a restaurant instead of the typical crayons and menu paper that is handed out. It was so much fun and Edison (and really Brandon and I) loved creating fun shapes out of them. This would be a great road trip activity too.

13// Princess Wand Paint Kit

Such an easy and simple craft and activity for girls.

Car and Monster Truck Paint Kit

For the boys. Edison has really been into painting things lately. We have been painting rocks, pumpkins, wooden creations and so much more. I know he would absolutely love these. I can’t pass these up for his birthday

14// Scissor and Tape Skills

Ordering this set for Edison’s birthday too. He loves to cut and glue anything right now. So having him practice scissors skills would be a great day time activity. I have never thought of using tape to trace lines etc. So this is a fun idea too for a great activity to entertain 3 to 5 year olds.

15// Color Code Games

We recently got this color codes game and it has been a hit. Edison does a really good job at figuring out what shapes are needed to create the color code. Of course I still have to help him with layering in the correct order. But he is really starting to figure it out.
